Are you ready to hit the deck?
If you put your ear to the ground, you will find many Christians crying out: All hands on deck! That’s actually what I heard the Lord speak to me several years ago.
And it’s even more needed today.
Think for a minute about a navy ship at sea. An emergency comes, and the captain gives the command. All Hands On Deck.
What does that mean? It means that we are in an emergency and everyone is needed to perform their job. If it’s a storm, there will be those helping with the steering. Others will be clearing the water from the deck. Still others will secure the equipment.
There will be many jobs – not everyone doing the same thing, but teams performing their assignments.
So what does God mean when He says that?
In God’s big plan, everyone has a part. An assignment. An assignment based on the gifts He has given them.
And here’s the thing. No assignment is too small. And no assignment is too big, if you have been called to do it.
In my own life, when I was in college, the thing I hated the most was a writing assignment. I Ioved doing math. But writing! I just couldn’t seem to concentrate long enough to do it. I would panic over writing a term paper.
Then guess what! About 12 years ago, the Lord told me to write a book.
You’ve got to be kidding!
Not me!
Don’t you remember who I am, Lord?
I’m not a writer.
He said, “Just put down what I tell you to say. Imagine you are talking to a person, and say what I want you to say to them.”
How easy is that?!
Well, as you know, now I have over 20 books on Amazon. Every one was done the same way. Listen to the Lord, and say what He wants to say.
That’s the way it is when the Lord gives you an assignment. When I try to get outside of my gifts, I’m in trouble. I’m not effective.
But when the Lord gives you an assignment, He empowers you to do it. He lives through you in a way that can help others.
So what is God calling you to do?
You can’t say, “nothing.” Everyone has assignments from their Father.
One of the most significant assignments is influencing those around you at work or in your neighborhood.
Maybe you want to choose one person to influence. That’s a great place to start.
Maybe meet and share a Bible study during lunch. Just one on one. Or meet with a neighbor in your home or the park.
When you influence one person, your life will change. While that person is growing, you will grow too. In faith and in confidence.
We at the Soar Network are here to help you in any way that we can. I pray for you that you will hear God’s voice. And I pray for your confidence to step out and do what he says.
Think what can happen when all of us respond to the call?
Be sure to check out our Bible Study resources at theSoar.net. They are geared for small group sharing. (Even one on one).

And in the meantime,
