Our Father is calling everyone who is willing to step up and do their part in accomplishing His goals.
If you’ve never led a Bible Study before, it might seem scary. Yet it’s easier than you think if you will just step back and realize that having a group of just one friend and yourself will have a huge impact on both of you. Two friends – growing in their walk with the Lord is very powerful.
(Resources you can download at TheSoar.net are perfect for these small study groups).
So here are some tips for you to make this happen in your world.
Start Small Jesus said when two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst. (Matthew 18:20) That means that just one friend will be all you need to start your group.
Choose one (or more) friend at work or in your neighborhood. Decide a time when you can get together to share and pray.
Keep it Simple Our lives are busy and complicated. Let this be different. Just one or two points at a time can change lives – when done on a regular basis.
Impact and not Information. There is a time and place for different kinds of study. These simple Bible Studies are meant to help people grow in their relationship with God and in their faith.
Your goal won’t be just to gather information. You want to develop a deeper relationship with your heavenly Father. Praying together and sharing the Word is what you are after.
Be Open to Share Your Own Journey. Religion (A form of godliness without the power), will make you want to hide your mistakes and pretend that you have it altogether. In these studies, your being transparent will help you and the others to grow in faith.
Be Consistent. Sometimes things happen which require us to change our plans, Be determined not to let this happen too often. Consistency helps produce results
Be Kind. When others share their faults, be kind in the way you respond. Though you want to encourage Godly character, avoid harshness in your responses.
Be Encouraging When others need to change habits or thoughts, encourage them. Help them to see that God’s Holy Spirit is there to help them overcome.
Be Patient Sometimes changes take time. Allow your friends and yourself time to make the transitions you need to make.
Love Never Fails (I Cor 13:8) Your friendship will help your friends change. As you pray and share with one another, each of you will experience the mercy your Father has for you.
Remember: As You lead your group, you are doing a great work, and you are making a difference in the lives of those you touch – as well as in your own life.
Hebrews 6:10 (NIV) God is not unjust. He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them.
