The headline read: A Seaweed blob twice the width of the US is headed toward Florida. ((CNN.com/travel/article, March 18, 2023)

A huge clump of Sargassum seaweed was floating from Africa and expected to wash up on the beaches along the tip of Florida. The Atlantic and Gulf coasts were put on alert for the Red Blooms coming their way.

Vacationers were going to be in for a surprise, and not a good one. The Sargassum would infiltrate the beaches and rot there – leaving a very foul odor.

This was a problem.

I was reminded of an experience my husband and I had nearly 40 years ago.

We were living in Eastern Tennessee at the time. There were some large areas where construction workers had mined fill dirt. These areas were hollowed out and left lookimg bare and dismal.

One morning some friends alerted us that there was something we needed to see.

We rushed out to a highway which ran along by these pits, and we were shocked.

No longer were they bare dirt. These pits were filled with bright yellow Coreopsis flowers – and not just a few! There were mases of them covering the landscape. We drove for a mile or two and the beauty was there. Fields of Coreopsis.

Suddenly there had been a bloom.

The event was strange enough to be written up in the Knoxville newspapers.

What had happened? Botanists came on the scene and decided that the bare dirt had been full of the seeds – even though no one could see them. At the right time, these seeds had sprouted and bloomed.

It seemed like overnight, but that wasn’t so.

The seeds had been there waiting for the right moment. Neither of these blooms were obvious until the day of the bloom. One good and one bad.

That’s much like what is happening in our world right now. All around we are seeing hatred. Where did that come from?

Seeds which have been planted in the hearts of people are coming out. They are blooming.

That’s the way all things work. Seedtime and Harvest. God promised that as long as the earth existed, there would be seedtime and harvest. (Genesis 8:22)

Then in the New Testament, Jesus shows us that words are like seeds planted in the heart of man. (Mark 4:14)

There is no question that the words planted in the hearts of people are blooming across the globe right now. The antisemitic rants and rallies going on right now are crops which have been planted over a period of years – even decades.

Sometimes one-on-one, sometimes in groups, people have been taught to hate. They have been fed lies and they have believed them.

So here’s the question: what if they had been taught the truth?  What if they had been taught to live with neighbors – loving them and forgiving them.

What if they had been taught about the One True God? And His plans for their lives?

You can never underestimate the significance of friends talking to friends, or to small groups. The words and ideas expressed to these people over and over are like seeds planted in the hearts of their recipients. They take root and they grow.

Weeds planted grow weed patches. Good seeds planted grow beautiful gardens or landscapes.

So you and I should never underestimate the significance of our impact on one other person. At work. In the neighborhood. Or wherever we meet people.

You know where I am going next.

If we could each reach one other person, the world would change. People would come to know Jesus and His Holy Spirit in a mighty way.

God’s plans would be implemented and we would see love instead of hate.

That’s why The Soar Network was created. It stands for The Season of Awakening and Reformation. We want to assist anyone who desires to impact those people in their sphere.

Just impacting one other person would make a difference.

Our Bible Studies and Blog articles are downloadable for you to edit, claim as your own and use almost any way you desire. They are perfect for workplace sharing. Early morning or lunch break would be a great time to make a difference.

And the added benefit would be you growing closer to God and increasing in faith.

If everyone could let God show them His desire for their part, our world would change dramatically.

Of course, there would be new believers, but also lukewarm Christians would get hot, and lives would be changed forever!

When people change, the world around them changes.

One person at a time.
